Thank You for visiting the official Corvettes Limited of Bowling
Green website. We’re glad you stopped by to learn more about Who
We Are and What We Do at Corvettes Limited of Bowling Green.
Corvettes Limited of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Inc. (as it is officially
called) is a car club centered around the Chevrolet Corvette. Corvettes
Limited of Bowling Green was formed in September, 1980, just before
the “rumored” Corvette Assembly Plant moved from St. Louis to Bowling
Green. At that time there was a perceived need for an organization
like Corvettes Limited of Bowling Green to create a means to focus
an incredible amount of Pride and Fellowship around the Corvette
in our area.
Pride stemmed from the fact that the only Corvette Assembly
Plant in the world had chosen Bowling Green, Kentucky, to be its
home and that hundreds of Corvette people were moving into our
area from St. Louis. They brought a great deal of pride in that they
were the builders of Corvettes. That pride is contagious and Corvettes
Limited of Bowling Green wanted to tap into that Pride. With the
Assembly Plant came a new sense of “Community Connectedness”.
The Corvette was no longer something that had to be loved from
afar, it was now part of the Community. A Corvette club worthy
of the Corvette had to be established in Bowling Green…thus Corvettes
Limited of Bowling Green had its objective.
Over the past 25 years
many things have changed in the Corvette world. Both the Corvette
Assembly Plant and Corvettes Limited of Bowling Green have been
part of that change. We survived the changeover to unleaded gas
and the government’s horsepower reduction efforts. We even made
it through long hair and leisure suits, both of which were common
at early Corvettes Limited of Bowling Green club meetings. On the
positive side we have ushered in 3 new generations of Corvette
evolution and we now enjoy the presence of the National Corvette
Museum. My, how Corvettes Limited of Bowling Green has been blessed.
One
thing has not changed…Corvettes Limited of Bowling Green’s
love of the Corvette. But it takes more than love of the marque
to keep a car club together for 25 years. It takes a desire to
share experiences, expand knowledge, develop friendships and to
enjoy good times. Corvettes Limited of Bowling Green provides
an opportunity to share all these with a “family” that has a common
bond…Corvette.
When many people moved from St. Louis to Bowling
Green they left friends and family behind. This left a huge void
in their lives. Corvettes Limited of Bowling Green helped fill
that void for many of them. Corvettes Limited of Bowling Green
was a place to meet new friends, learn about their new community
and share their passion and pride of owning a Corvette. Corvettes
Limited of Bowling Green club members work together, laugh together,
disagree together and share love of Corvettes together because
we are family.
One big member of the Corvettes Limited of Bowling
Green family is the National Corvette Museum. We believe that
the Corvette club that calls Bowling Green home must be 100% supportive
of the National Corvette Museum. The NCM survives because of people
and funds. Corvettes Limited of Bowling Green provides a great
deal of both, especially people in the form of volunteers for
NCM events. The NCM recognizes the contribution from Corvettes
Limited of Bowling Green and is very appreciative.
Corvettes Limited of Bowling Green currently has
over 180 members, some as far away as Australia.
We are focused on the objective of providing all
Corvettes Limited of Bowling Green club members recognition and
enjoyment while propagating the mystique of the Corvette. Corvettes
Limited of Bowling Green is about having a good time, being involved
in the community, acting as ambassadors and volunteers for the National
Corvette Museum and presenting the Corvette as the basis for a common
interest.
Corvettes Limited of Bowling Green is the only Corvette
club in the world having the distinct honor and privilege of holding
its regular meetings at the National Corvette Museum. When Corvettes
Limited of Bowling Green began, meetings were held on the front
steps of the local Chevrolet dealer. Today we gather in the Chevrolet
Theater at the NCM. Corvettes Limited of Bowling Green meets the
first Saturday of each month at 6:00 p.m. CST and we welcome visitors
and guests to our general membership meetings.
Nearly every year of Corvette
is represented by the Corvettes Limited of Bowling Green club members.
The oldest car in the club is a 1955 and the newest is a 2005.
We anticipate the addition of a 2006 in the near future. Corvettes
Limited of Bowling Green has inducted several noted Corvette “Heroes” as
Honored Members, including Elfi Duntov. Many Corvettes Limited of
Bowling Green club members are National Corvette Museum Members as
well, with some being Museum Life Members. Although not a Corvettes
Limited of Bowling Green club requirement, all members are encouraged
to become NCM members as well.
